MY LOVE – The Story of Poul and Mai

18

– A film by Iben Haahr Andersen.

Year: 2012. Duration: 64 min.

Poul is one of the last pound fishermen in Denmark. A few years back he tragically lost everything he loved. From the ruins of his old life sprouts a whole new. At the age of 62 Poul finds the love of his life. His name is Mai and he is from Thailand. MY LOVE is the love story of Poul and Mai – reminding us that it is never to late to change your life.

When Poul and Mai meet their lives are transformed completely. Poul experiences a kind of love he never has had before, and Mai decides to settle down in Denmark – far away from his children, who live with his sister in Thailand.

For six years the director Iben Haahr Andersen have filmed Poul and Mai. She has captured the development of their relationship – from crazy love to the challenges of everyday life together.

With humour and wit the director has uncovered a story of courage to be one self, and she shows a love story that transcends borders, language and nationality.
